There is a false notion that time heals. Time does not heal anything!!! As time pass, if left unprocessed, the e-motion of said trauma is deprioritized and stored/archived in the sub-conscious mind. It is no longer in the light/awareness and so we forget thinking it somehow went away and resolved on its own. We couldn't be more wrong.
When we experience a trauma (trapped e-motions) via people, place, animal or thing (event), our body produce a chemical response from the fight-or-flight that registers/encodes said trauma into the memory and emotional centers of the brain that in turn programs our cells (specifically the mitochondria). This new memory runs for a while in the conscious mind for processing before it is stored in the subconscious.
The brain is a complex network of about 100 billion neurons that is responsible to process and organize information it picks up from the nerves. The nerves are messengers that sends messages back and forth between the brain and the body. The brain is what controls all the bodily functions and is continuously changed by information received. Consider the brain to be the miniature akasha (all-pervading field in the ether in which a record of past events is imprinted.) a matrix that carefully encodes and stores your memories and experiences, collectively making up the unique mosaic of you.
What is Trauma?
Trauma is the pooling of e-motion to overwhelming, frightening, or disturbing event that exceeds personal stress threshold. The nervous system is unable to process the information at the pace it is coming in. Everyone has a stress threshold. Trauma happens when this threshold is exceeded resulting in you being unable to cope with magnitude of incoming stimulation; this result in stagnation or glitching and e-motions get trapped.
Trauma (trapped e-motions) is stored in the Nervous System which includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves. The network of nerves spreads throughout the entire body and so e-motions get trapped into our tissue cells which later have detrimental effects on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Trauma (trapped e-motions) is stored in the nervous system which includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves. When left unprocessed, the triggers will have a great impact on your health causing dis-ease such as anxiety, heart attack, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and cancer.
example, trauma (trapped e-motions) affects the brain is by dysregulating the Hypothalamic Pituitary Adrenal-axis, which plays a key role in the stress response. Because Fight-or-flight mode is meant to be temporary, prolonged trauma (trapped e-motions) cause the body to get stuck in emergency mode as the nervous system continues to regulate itself causing a state of hyper-vigilance, which eventually lead to adrenal burnout.
Proof Why Time Does Not Heal
Our day-to-day activities in an effort to fulfil our responsibilities see us prioritizing and deprioritizing different events and/or e-motions of our experience involving people, place and things. E-motions loses priority because we, over time, move away from the fight-or-flight state.
After a while you begin to forget about all the intricacies of the situation that caused the e-motional imbalance/discomfort due to other thing taking priority. However, the body still register the trauma as something to resolve and stores it as a fragment.
The fragment is recorded in the Nervous System with all the sensation you gathered from your senses: smell, touch, sound, sight, taste. The fragment is processed by the conscious mind and curated as a seed which is then passed/buried into the sub-conscious mind - your soil, your garden to be later processed.
The Nervous System is the major controlling, regulatory, and communicating system in the body. It is the center of all mental activity including thought, learning, and memory. Together with the Endocrine System the nervous system is responsible for regulating and maintaining homeostasis.
Untreated past trauma can have a big impact on your future health. The emotional and physical reactions it triggers can make you more prone to serious health conditions including heart attack, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and cancer
How To Resolve Trauma
To resolve trauma we must engage in Shadow Work. Shadow Work is the identification, resolution and integration of repressed aspects of ourselves such as personality traits, emotions, thoughts and trauma (hurt and wrongs) with unconditional love.
In this case we are focused on trauma (trapped e-motion) due to hurt and wrongs. Here are some ways in which we can address the shadows:
Merge With It - The Only Way Over It is Through It.
When you merge, you enter the shadows.
If you want to heal it, you’ve gotta feel it. Feelings are energy in motion (aka E-motion). So let them move! This is easier said than done, as emotions like fear, sadness, and shame can be ultra-painful. The pain can be intense and proves too much to bear but it's the bully we all must face.
Notice the sensations that arise and where you feel them. Just witness whatever you’re feeling without judgment. When we refrain from judgement we give ourselves unconditional love. Journal so you can keep track of what you need to work on.
Shake It Off
Movement is very important in releasing stagnant e-motion. Light physical movement can help your body burn off adrenaline, release endorphins, calm your nervous system, and relieve stress. Examples are, walking, qi-gong, yoga, dancing or shaking.
To ramp up the healing effects, try moving mindfully. Avoid distractions, pay attention to your breath, and feel the sensations in your body. Aim to keep an easy pace that helps you stay present and calm. This helps maintain some parasympathetic tone, helping your body become more resilient to stress. Do not over exert yourself as this will increase your heart rate and make your sympathetic nervous system overly active which actually take away from the healing process.
Meditate - Be Still
You impossible to be aware of your feelings if you’re always in motion; slow down and be present in your body.
Find a quiet place where you feel safe and nothing or no one can distract you. Observe what comes up to the surface. It might look like simply sitting with yourself for a cup of tea, taking a bath, or doing a 15-minute meditation. Be sure to journal.
The more you slow down, the more aware you’ll be of the emotions simmering under the surface.
Breathe It Out
Breathwork is an intentional method of breathing that helps your body relax by bypassing your conscious mind. Trauma can overstimulate the body’s sympathetic nervous system (aka your body’s ‘fight-or-flight’ response). Breathwork settles it down.
Intentional breathing may help you process stored thoughts, emotions, and memories that have been pushed to the side. That’s why breathwork brings about emotional catharsis for many. For this reason, some people opt for sessions with a breathwork facilitator to learn the ropes. Feel free to research or work with
Sound & Vibrational Healing
The human body is 75% water – making us the perfect conductors for vibration. Sound produces vibration and frequency – from tuning forks, drums, singing bowls, or gongs – to break up coagulation and relax the mind and body.
The sound vibrations of the sound healing instruments penetrate deep into the tissue. This improves blood circulation and metabolism, regulates muscle tension and deeply stimulates the tissue. Moreover, regeneration and repair mechanisms are stimulated. Sound healing is both activating and relaxing – so it also has a refreshing effect.
